2019 Can’t Come Soon Enough for Disney Parks

We’re only two years away from Star Wars Land opening on both coasts, and fans are excited for the Parks’ fresh themes. On Tuesday, Disney announced a 5% year-over-year decline in attendance for it’s 4th quarter; a number which Star Wars Land is sure to invert, to say the least.

After Disney acquired Lucasfilm and began production on the theatrical releases of the new movies, it seemed inevitable that Star Wars would be incorporated in the Parks. While Disney announced plans for Star Wars Land back in 2015, the timeline for the projects wasn’t released until Tuesday, February 7th, 2017.

Star Wars Land will be transformative, particularly in Florida at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, where construction is already under way. Hollywood Studios has been dead last in attendance at WDW for years, but we anticipate that it will challenge Magic Kingdom’s popularity in 2019. Most guests currently consider Hollywood Studios a “half-day park”, but Star Wars Land will likely change the internal flow of guests at WDW.

Another change to anticipate with the implementation of Star Wars themes;  the name “Hollywood Studios” has been waiting for an update for a two years now, and the rumor is that “Disney’s Hollywood Adventure” will be a top choice for rebranding. We imagine the rebranding will go along with the opening of Star Wars Land in 2019.
